Winners Fly to BA Final
September 9, 2011

The inaugural British Airways Pairs Championship event in association with Sandals took place in the Kent sunshine last Thursday as 30 teams of two battled it out around the London Golf Club for a golfing trip of a lifetime to five star Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas.

Tee times had to be pushed back an hour due to rain but when play eventually got under way the course had remained in fine condition and proved to be a stern yet fair test with the winning score coming in at 48 stableford points with full handicap allowance granted in a four ball better ball format.

It was Graham Kerr and Duncan Bland who came out on top with both players contributing evenly to the winning score. Key to their victory was some strong play on the par three holes which, due to a strong wind and the presence of water in front of the greens, played havoc with golfers all day.

"We managed to stay out of the water on the par three holes and even birdie a few of them which really helped our scorecard against the rest of the field. We've have had a fantastic day and can't wait to try and win the final in The Bahamas." said Kerr

Kerr and Bland will be joined in the final by the winners from two other sections of the event being played at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club in Berkshire and The Mere in Cheshire.
