British Sports Book Awards launch golf category
The British Sports Book Awards is recognised as a highlight of the sports publishing year and an opportunity for writers, editors, sporting stars and VIP corporate supporters to mingle in a relaxed atmosphere in the elegant confines of one of London's most iconic hotels, the newly-renovated Savoy Hotel.
Launched by the National Sporting Club that was originally based at the Cafe Royal, the British Sports Book Awards now attract submissions from over 50 companies, large and small, for consideration. A panel of distinguished judges in each category assists in the creation of shortlists and then embarks on the serious business of picking a worthy winner.
This prestigious annual event has in the past been supported by a number of sponsors and partners over the past few years, with support coming from the likes of Sky Sports, The Times newspaper and Getty Images with Sainsbury joining the line-up in 2011.
In May this year over 300 guests, including the cream of British sports publishing and sporting personalities Gaby Logan, Mike Atherton, Neil Warnock and Brian Moore, assembled at The Savoy.
In 2012 for the very first time, the golf writers will be joining their fellow football, rugby, cricket and horse racing colleagues at the event when they will announce the Golf Writers Book of the Year in 2012. The golf writers' panel will be headed up by respected golf journalist, John Hopkins, who enjoyed a successful career writing about golf for The Times for many years.
The establishment of the inaugural golf award presents a golf brand with a wonderful opportunity to become involved in these prestigious Awards at an early stage and to line up alongside a number of premier sponsors that include Coutts in football and Ladbrokes in racing.
As well as an offering the chance to entertain top clients and customers at the star-studded event, sponsorship of the golf book award will also offer the company excellent profile at the event itself and pre and post media exposure of the Awards.
The 10th annual British Sports Book Awards is planned for May 21, 2012, at the Savoy Hotel in London.
