CMAE education conference returns to Portugal
July 22, 2011

Following last year's successful inaugural Leadership in Education Conference, the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE) has announced the dates for its second event in Portugal.

This year's event, planned for November 24-26, 2011, will be open to invited guests from across Europe and staged at the CS Salgados Grande Hotel, on Portugal's golden Algarve coast.

The presidents, chairmen, CEOs, administrators and board members from club managers associations and other education and training organisations from all over Europe have been invited, along with representatives from a number of academic organisations and professional educators working within the club industry.

The CS Salgados Grande Hotel provides the perfect location for the event, offering outstanding conference facilities and overlooking both Salgados beach and golf course, all set in a natural wildlife reserve.

Jerry Kilby CCM, chief executive of the CMAE, said: "We are extremely grateful to the CS Hotels, Golf & Resorts group - without its generous support this conference would not be possible."

João Leitão, Board Member of CS Hotels, Golf & Resorts, added: "We are very much looking forward to welcoming club managers from all over Europe to the CS Salgados Grande Hotel. The hotel's Congress Centre is the largest in Portugal and one of the most spacious on the Iberian Peninsula. I'm sure the CMAE and its delegates will find everything they need."

Jerry Kilby added: "Following the success of the conference in 2010 we are confident this year's event will be even more beneficial to our members.

"We will be discussing the challenges we are all experiencing regarding the development of education programmes for club managers throughout Europe, and learn from educators and colleagues about future trends and developments in the European club industry.

"At the CMAE Leadership in Education Conference we will be bringing together specialists and educators from the club and golf industry to discuss the format, content and development of courses, seminars and other events and the educational framework in which these courses will be promoted to club managers, committees and owners."

The three-day conference will kick off with a welcome reception on Tuesday, November 24, followed by a full day of conferences, networking opportunities and dinner. The final day will include a morning conference and lunch with delegates free to enjoy a round of golf in the afternoon.
