Dorset Golf & Country Club are 5* again
February 25, 2011

Has done it once again for the second consecutive year, by achieving the highest accolade from Visit Britain, its 5 STAR GOLD AWARD .

General Manager (pictured) said "To be acknowledged as a 5 star holiday destination is a massive honour, but to achieve the highest marks possible and receive the Gold Award is very special. We all feel so proud here as so much hard work goes in to running the resort so to get it for the second year shows our continued commitment to achieving high standards".

Visit Britain awarded The Dorset Resort with the Gold Award for its outstanding Luxury Homes, its food, attention to detail, customer service and surroundings, and is one of only a few awarded each year throughout the country.

This makes the Dorset Resort the only 5 Star Resort in the county of Dorset , which is an amazing achievement considering that Dorset is a holiday destination with a lot of rentable accommodation.

The 12 Fairy tale Scandinavian-style houses at the Dorset Resort are very different types of buildings not often seen in the English Countryside. Made entirely from trees grown in the Nordic forests of Finland , these houses create a unique healthy living environment because the wood "breathes" whilst at the same time being a better insulator than brick. Located in a quiet wooded glade these beautiful houses sleep up to eight people and can be rented throughout the year. Each one has a fully fitted kitchen, luxurious furniture, natural oiled pine floors, walls and ceilings, wood burning stoves, sauna in every home, verandas, trolly sheds - in fact, everything to ensure five star accommodation for all guests.

The resort weren't content with the £1m indoor Championship Bowls Arena built just over a year ago - complete with fitness suite, sauna and tropical shower. To add to the success, August saw the unveiling of the ½ million pound 'Woodland Cottage'. This magnificent 4 bedroom house is situated on the Woodland golf course opposite its Scandinavian neighbours in an idyllic setting. Combine this with 27 Holes of Championship Golf, a huge air-conditioned Clubhouse and delicious home cooked cuisine with an ever changing menu supplied by its team of talented chefs, it becomes clearer why the resort boasts around a 65% repeat business rate.

The Championship 27 hole Golf Course has also not been neglected with again a lot of winter works having taken place. Improved irrigation, additional pathways and numerous cosmetic enhancements have taken the courses to a new level. Great grass coverage on tees ensures no mats were used again this winter. This lovely Golf Course just gets better every year with its superb large greens and clover shaped bunkers makes playing golf a shear delight. Set in the middle of Dorset surrounded by stunning countryside and if you visit in May/June you will see one of the most spectacular flower displays with rhododendron in golf today. The Woodland Course is cut through a forest of rhododendron and is worth playing just for the flowers alone. The Lakeland & Parkland Course have hosted many championship events including the South West PGA Championship, West of England Amateur, The Master Card Tour plus numerous County Tournaments . Built with full USGA specification greens, all 27 holes are a real pleasure to play and considered on of the best in the South of England.

The cost of staying at The Dorset Resort is one of exceptional value for money. The packages for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast all include free Golf and do not cost anymore than the competition but do have the luxury of a choice of wonderful accommodation. The business plan is simple, offer golfers 5 star accommodation, fantastic food, put together with a wonderful 27 holes of Championship Golf and you have a package that will be the highlight of your golfing year.
