Toast an eagle at Fairmont St Andrews
June 8, 2011

Finishing a round of golf with an eagle is cause enough for celebration, but golfers achieving the impressive feat at Fairmont St Andrews can toast their exceptional finish on 18 with another exceptional 18 - a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 Years Old.

Anyone coming in two under par on the final hole of the resort's Torrance or Kittocks courses will be awarded a bottle of the single malt Scotch whisky as a memento of their accomplishment.

The par-five final hole on The Torrance measures a daunting 561 yards from the championship tees but, at a more hospitable 485 yards from the men's tee box, a good drive followed by a solid approach will see golfers having a putt for the Glenmorangie prize.

An eagle is equally achievable on The Kittocks layout: a par-four measuring 420 yards from the men's tees, where as long as players steer clear of the water and sand they can find themselves in with a chance of winning the whisky.

Jason King, director of golf at Fairmont St Andrews, said: "Our courses provide a challenge to players but they're not so hard as to make low scores impossible. Anyone who gets an eagle on the 18th has done extremely well and we're delighted to have partnered with Glenmorangie to recognise that achievement in such style."

Leanne Banks, marketing manager for Glenmorangie, said: "Scoring two-under-par on the 18th hole is an unforgettable achievement. We hope celebrating this accomplishment with friends over a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 Years Old will make it even more memorable."

Glenmorangie 18 Years Old is distilled in Scotland 's tallest malt stills and specially aged in the finest ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. This single malt Scotch whisky has a silky smooth texture.

Fairmont St Andrews boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses - the Torrance and the Kittocks - both of which were featured in Golfweek's latest Top 40 UK & Ireland Modern Courses.

The courses recently underwent extensive renovation and improvement as part of a £17m redevelopment of the resort which also included significant enhancements to the five-star hotel and luxurious spa complex.
