New golf scheme for Nottinghamshire
May 3, 2011

IIt's never too late to take up golf - and now it has never been easier to give the game a try in Nottinghamshire.

A new drive to give people the chance to start playing the sport is being launched throughout the county.

The 'Get Into The Swing' campaign is aimed at both beginners and those with only limited experience of playing golf in the 16plus age bracket.

Clubs throughout the county will be offering special coaching sessions starting throughout May.

The weekly, one-hour group lessons - which will run for five weeks - will be available at the bargain price of just £25.

With 17 clubs supporting the scheme, it means everyone in Nottinghamshire should be able find a club near to their home.

Matthew Bloor, County Development Officer for the Nottinghamshire County Golf Partnership, urged people to make the most of the benefits playing golf can bring.

"Golf is a great game for people of all ages and can be played by those in their teenage years or those in their eighties!" he said.

"As well as the sporting challenge of the game itself, golf offers a healthy lifestyle and the chance to make new friends and enjoy an active social life, especially through golf club membership."
