New discover golf day in Staffordshire

Would be golfers in Staffordshire are being offered the perfect chance to discover the sport.

The Golf Academy - based at The Range, Essington - is holding an open day on Sunday, June 5.

On offer will be

  • Free tuition in groups: Mens, Ladies, Juniors and Disability groups
  • A barbecue
  • Games and competitions with prizes
  • A 2 for 1 range ball offer from 9am to 5pm

Says Sean Hammill, county development officer for the Staffordshire County Golf Partnership: "Thanks to the efforts of The Golf Academy, this is an ideal chance for anyone interested in getting into golf to sample what is on offer.

"The day will show that learning to play golf is fun, affordable, open to all, good for your health, rewarding, sociable and easy!

"Whether you are new to the game or a golfer looking to improve your game this summer, the Discover Golf Day has something for you and your family."

The Golf Academy is the brainchild of three PGA qualified coaches - Craig Thomas, Craig Fletcher and Danielle Wilkinson - and seeks to break down the barriers to people taking up golf.

The open day takes place at The Range, Wood Farm, Broad Lane, Essington, near Wolverhampton.

The Staffordshire Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.

In Staffordshire the partnership is supported by the Staffordshire Ladies County Golf Association, the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs and the Staffordshire PGA.
