Lee Westwood supporting juniors in Warwickshire

Lee Westwood will take a break from his battle to be the world's number one golfer to visit a Warwickshire golf club helping develop the next generation of players.

The ACE Golf Academy, based at the The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club in Leek Wootton, Warwick, is hosting the Lee Westwood Academy from July 26-28.

The three-day camp is scheduled to include a visit from Westwood, who will answer questions from the children taking part as well as demonstrating some of the skills needed to get to the pinnacle of the sport.

The camp is open for young golfers from the age of 7-16 and each child has the opportunity to win a golf day with Westwood. For more information visit The cost is £150 with extended hours for working parents available on request at an additional cost.

The visit of the Westwood Academy is just part of the range of activities on offer at the club, including the ACE Golf Summer Kids Camps, which run every week of the summer holiday.

They take place from 9am-3pm each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the summer holidays starting from August 3. The cost is £40 per child per day or £99 per child per three-day week.

Says ACE Golf Academy Ltd co-founder Mark Dulson: "All our PGA coaches are CRB approved and put the emphasis on learning golf in a fun and friendly environment. All equipment is provided and all that is required is a packed lunch.

"The team believe that teaching a good golf swing is only the beginning. Our on course mentoring and developing sessions ensure that players fully understand the etiquette, rules and fundamentals of the game of golf as well as helping the understand the importance of correct course decision making, from club selection to choosing the right shot for the situation."

The ACE Golf Academy management team are operating at The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club, Lichfield Golf and Country Club and Warwick Golf Centre at Warwick Racecourse.

A number of projects aimed at increasing participation in golf are run under the umbrella of the Warwickshire Golf Partnership. This is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.

In Warwickshire the partnership is supported by the Warwickshire Union of Golf Clubs (WUGC), the Warwickshire Ladies' County Golf Association (WLCGA) and the Warwickshire PGA.
