Autumn in the city of Lisbon
October 28, 2011

Mention Lisbon and words that usually come to mind are, without doubt, a city break holiday, certain international footballers and famous football managers- and perhaps  golf too as the country is famous for the sport.

For some of Europe's best golf courses you don't have to venture to the coast to tee off in the Portuguese sunshine: stay in Lisbon, the capital, and practice your swing in view of locals and visitors alike.

Lisbon's courses are world-class with high quality greens and fairways plus spectacular views.  There are 25 courses in the Lisbon region within 30 minutes of downtown and one of them is within 15 minutes of the centre:

Club de Golfe do Paço do Lumiar is a 9 hole, par 29 course in the middle of the city with spectacular views of Lisbon and of the gardens in front of the National Costume museum.  A couple of holes on this course can present a challenge to the better player (especially one across water) but this is also a course with appeal for players at all levels.

Also fully equipped with shop, resident golf pro., club hire and buggies.

In Lisbon, as in many parts of the country, you can play golf every day of the year due to the excellent climate. Green fees and lessons are great value for money and if the other members of your party prefer the museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, clubs, boat trips, beaches and shops of Lisbon, they can enjoy them while you hit the fairway just along the road...

Within a 30 minute drive from Lisbon, there are more glorious courses in nearby Sintra and Estoril.
