Monte Rei Golf Club opens its Veranda
July 4, 2011

Monte Rei Golf & Country Club has announced the opening of Veranda on 1st July. Set in more than 1,000 acres of dramatic countryside in Portugal's eastern Algarve, the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club is a world-class destination with golf, gourmet dining, luxurious villas and today announces the latest addition to the property, Veranda, at the heart of O Miradouro Village.  Located within the beautifully landscaped gardens of Parque Miradouro and featuring extensive terraces overlooking the pools and gardens beyond, Veranda will provide a social focal point for residents within the resort.

The opening of Veranda will add a fourth bar and restaurant to the resort, overseen by Chef Jaime Perez, a protégé of Ferrán Adrià, and formerly a leading chef in Adrià´s renowned 3-Michelin star "El Bulli" restaurant. Already home to the acclaimed Vistas Restaurant, Monte Rei is set to become a popular gastronomic destination in its own right. Perez is one of the celebrated 'CoCo' (Contemporary Cooking) chefs, pushing the bounds of European cuisine with menus designed to suit the most discerning palates and the latest addition to the restaurant collection promises to serve up an exciting new menu featuring contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and traditional dishes, finished with an individual seasonal touch.  Veranda will provide a comfortable and informal place for residents and visitors alike to relax and enjoy delicious food and wine in the Algarvean sun.

Continuing the action off the golf course, Veranda features a fully equipped gymnasium, two tennis courts and two swimming pools, whilst for those looking to relax, Veranda will also feature spa facilities including sauna and steam rooms and a relaxation area, as well as a beauty salon.  Veranda will also add to the already luxurious offering at the recently announced rental villas. Also located in O Miradouro Village, the villas offer all the comforts and charm of a private home, whilst still providing guests with the services of a luxury hotel including housekeeping, luxury toiletries from Molton Brown and a dedicated concierge to take care of restaurant reservations, golf bookings and other requests.

Monte Rei is rapidly gaining recognition around the world as a premier golf destination.  It has the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Portugal and, when the second course is completed, it will be one of the few resorts in the world to have two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses.  The first of the two courses opened for play four years ago and has already received many accolades, being ranked as the number one golf course in Portugal by Golf Monthly as well as the leading course in Portugal and number 10 in Europe by Top100golfcourses.co.uk.

The area to the east of Faro is vastly different to the rest of the Algarve. Development here has spread at a much slower pace, and the small resorts and towns that do exist have retained much of their character, looking very much today as they would have looked long ago. A large part of the coastline, almost to the Spanish border, is lined by stretches of white sandy beaches and tidal marshlands which are an integral part of the Ria Formosa National Park, a conservation area of great beauty and ecological importance.

Monte Rei offers four-bedroom twin villas from €400.00 per day (maximum 8 adults), three-bedroom linked villas from €300.00 per day (maximum 6 adults), and two-bedroom linked villas from €225.00 per day (maximum 4 adults).
