Monte Rei Golf to host charity tournament
September 14, 2011

Monte Rei Golf & Country Club is proud to announce that it will host a Marie Keating Foundation golf day on 12th October 2011, at the resort in the Eastern Algarve, Portugal. The event is part of the ongoing relationship between the charity and Monte Rei and promises to be an enjoyable tournament which will raise money for a very worthy cause.

The event will start at 10am with a team breakfast, before a shot-gun start at midday. After playing golf, guests will be invited to enjoy cocktails at the Clubhouse before dinner at Vistas restaurant, overseen by the renowned Chef Jaime Perez.

This is the second year that Monte Rei has hosted a golf tournament with the Marie Keating Foundation and the resort is delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile cause.  The Foundation does amazing work and it is hoped that this year's event will surpass that of the previous year through the generosity of the golfing competitors and guests at the resort.

The Marie Keating Foundation was launched by the Keating family and is committed to providing families with the necessary information to prevent cancer or detect it at its earliest stages, whilst also making cancer less frightening by enlightening those who encounter it. Their work includes a community information service about the risk factors of cancers and the importance of early cancer detection and relies entirely on fundraising activities.

Gary Keating, one of the founders of the Marie Keating Foundation says: "We're thrilled that Monte Rei have agreed to host our Portugal golf tournament for a second time. This year is set to be bigger and better than last year, with celebrities and well-known golfers in attendance, including ex-footballers Alan Shearer and Rob Lee. We're hopeful that this will become an annual event in our charity's calendar and we're incredibly grateful to Monte Rei for the support and generosity which they've shown us to date."

Famed for its Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, the first of its kind in Portugal. Monte Rei is rapidly gaining recognition around the world as a premier golf and family destination and, since its opening four years ago, has been ranked as the number one golf course in Portugal by Golf Monthly as well as the leading course in Portugal and number ten in Europe by, making it the perfect course to partner with the charity for this worthwhile occasion.

Entry to the tournament is at a cost of €1000 per four person team. Please contact Gary Keating to book your place
