Nicklaus Golf Trail announces Seniors Tour event
April 27, 2011

Polaris World will host the OKI Spanish Senior Open event by Cleveland Golf/Srixon, part of the European Seniors Tour at the El Valle Golf Resort from 18th - 22nd May 2011. The event is seen by Polaris World as confirmation that El Valle is now recognised as one of the best courses in Spain. Following last year's hosting of the tennis Davis Cup semi-final it also re-enforces the company's intention to regularly host major sporting events.

The addition of the event to the 2011 tour programme signifies the growth of the Seniors tour and is a testament to the development of the Polaris World's Nicklaus Golf Trail as a circuit of golf courses capable of holding major events.

It will be the Senior Tour's first visit to El Valle, a course personally designed by Jack Nicklaus which has previously hosted events on the European Tour's Qualifying School. The course is marked by spectacular holes in a desert setting - including one from a flat topped "mesa" or steep hill top down into the valley below. The course has been designed to use the minimal amount of water so the grassed areas are smaller than usual and the course punishes any wayward shots, particularly off the tee.

Welcoming the move to El Valle, Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: "We are very grateful to OKI, MatchGolf and the Spanish Golf Federation for continuing our presence in Spain, following six years in Castellón.

"Spain has been a major part of the Senior Tour over the years, providing a number of great champions, and we are delighted to be visiting another part of this fantastic country for the first time with our inaugural visit to El Valle."

Javier Gervás, General Director of MatchGolf, said: "I would like to thank OKI, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and Cleveland Srixon for their continued support, which has helped the OKI Spanish Senior Open return to the Senior Tour Schedule.
