Summer golf events for Northumberland girls

A summer of golfing fun is on the cards for girls in Northumberland.

A trio of events have been lined up to give youngsters the chance to take part in competitions against players of a similar ability.

Northumberland Ladies County Golf Association have announced three dates for the school holidays.

August 1 - Flag Day South at Matfen Hall Golf Club's par 3 course for girls with a handicap of 36-54 or no handicap

August 9 - Lady and Junior 9 hole Scramble at Parklands Golf Club, for teams of three, including one over 18 with handicap and two girls with or without a handicap

August 22 - Flag Day North at Burgham Park Golf Club's par 3 course for girls with a handicap of 36-54 or no handicap

The entry fee is just £3 for each Flag Day and £6 per team for the Scramble.

Lisa Ferrie, County Development Officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership, said: "Northumberland Ladies do a great job in putting on these events which are a fun way for the girls to enjoy the experience of playing in a competition."

The Northumberland County Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.

In Northumberland the partnership is supported by the Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs, the Northumberland Ladies County Golf Association, the Northumberland Junior Golfing Association and the Professional Golfers' Association.
