Oceanico Victoria hosts 2011 European Amateur Championships
July 18, 2011

The Oceânico Group welcomed some of Europe's leading golfers last week, as players from over 20 nations gathered at the expertly-conditioned Oceânico Victoria course for the prestigious European Amateur Team Championships . Spain entered the Match Play portion of the event as the number one seed, following an impressive 24-under par total in the 36-hole Stroke Play qualifying. They were led by individual champion Scott Fernandez who shot rounds of 66 and 69. However, it was the team from France who took the overall title following their victory over Switzerland 4.5 to 2.5 in the Grand Final.

"The Oceânico Victoria Course has been the perfect venue for the European Team Amateur Championships. The course has been in fine condition and it is always nice to have the current crop of Europe's finest amateurs compete around a course that has long been on the European Tour roster," noted Tommy Basquille of the European Golf Association & Championship Chairman.

With favorable year-round playing conditions in Portugal's Algarve region, seven golf courses and a host of stunning apartments and villas, Oceânico has quickly become one of the most-popular holiday destinations for golfers from all over Europe. Additionally, the Oceânico Group has gained a reputation for its ability to deliver innovative golf events, including the ever-popular Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship in July, and Ladies Golf Week in October, not to mention the European Tour's Portugal Masters.
