Oitavos to host Oitavos Classic in January
October 14, 2011

The Oitavos, the five-star luxury hotel and spa on Portugal's Estoril Coast near Lisbon, is partnering with award winning 18-hole Oitavos Dunes golf course to bring guests the opportunity to participate for the first time in The Oitavos Classic golfing tournament between 26 January and 29 January 2012.

Oitavos Dunes, adjacent to the hotel and designed by renowned American golf course architect Arthur Hills , has been given a prestigious 68 th ranking in GOLF Magazine's 2011 Top 100 Courses in the World (and the number 1 ranked course in Portugal ). A natural links golf experience, every hole on the course offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and nearby Sintra mountains.

Perfect for golf aficionados, this international golf tournament offers golfers the chance to combine the challenge and excitement of playing one of the world's great golf courses in a friendly atmosphere, with relaxation and luxury with the three-night Oitavos Classic package.

The "Oitavos Classic" package starts at €706.50 for a single bedroom and €924 for a double bedroom, including:

  • A three-night stay at The Oitavos in a Superior Room
  • Daily buffet breakfast at Ipsylon Restaurant
  • Three rounds of golf at Oitavos Dunes
  • Welcome cocktail at The Clubhouse - Verbasco bar
  • Closing ceremony lunch at Ipsylon Restaurant
  • Prizes and giveaways
  • Transfers from/to Lisbon airport (upon availability)

Offer valid from 26 January to 29 January 2012 and rates include taxes and service and are subject to availability. Please note that a golf handicap certificate is mandatory.

Favorites of the 18 holes include the spectacular 14 th Hole, much loved by Paul McGinley, three-time member of the winning Ryder Cup team. The par three is played out in to the Ocean, with stiff winds to negotiate and a well guarded green. Paul Lawrie, British Open Winner 1999, prefers the 143 meters par three ninth hole where players are face to face with the open landscape, the mountains and no shelter from the wind.
