Choi returns to top 15 as Donald takes no. 2 spot
May 16, 2011

KJ Choi beat David Toms in a play-off to win the Players Championship. American Paul Goydos finished alone in third at 11-under, two behind, after a 69 while England's Luke Donald and Nick Watney were tied fourth after closing with 71s. Both Choi and Toms had shot two-under 70s in regulation play to finish locked together at -13 as playing partner McDowell shot a final round 79 to drop from first to tied 33rd. This win of golf's richest championship sees Choi move up 19 positions to World Number 15, while Toms climbs back into the World Top 50 in 46th. Luke Donald overtakes Maytin Kaymer as world no. 2 thanks to a tie for fourth place, while Kaymer could finish no better than tied 19th.

Darren Clarke won the Iberdrola Open in Mallorca by three shots from Chris Wood and David Lynn. Clarke's first victory in three years moves him back into the top 100 at 88th, up 36 places.
