Quiros enters top 25 and earns Masters slot
December 12, 2011

Alvaro Quiros won the Dubai World Championship presented by DP World over the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Quiros' fifth European Tour title completed the Spaniard's "clean-sweep" of this year's Dubai tournaments having won the Dubai Desert Classic earlier in the year. Quiros holed a monster eagle putt on the final green to finish two shots clear of Scotland’s Paul Lawrie, with world no. 1 Luke Donald a shot further back, after closing the tournament with two 66s on the weekend. The win takes Quiros to World Number 21, a jump of 31 positions, thus securing his place in next year's Masters Tournament.

Luke Donald's third place brought him the European Race to Dubai money title to add to his PGA Tour money list victory, making him the first player in history to claim both titles in same year.

Adam Scott has moved above Steve Stricker to world no. 5, meaning that none of the top five in the current World Ranking are American.
