Alvaro Quiros and D.A. Points reach career-high world rankings
February 15, 2011

Alvaro Quiros picked up his fifth European Tour victory in his 100th European Tour event at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. He moves to pole position in the Race to Dubai, the first time in his career that he has occupied the top spot. In a round featuring a hole-in-one, an eagle on a par 4 and a triple bogey, Quiros signed for a four-under-par 68 which secured the win by a stroke from Anders Hansen and James Kingston. Quiros climbs 15 places to 21st in the Official World Golf Ranking, his highest career position.

D.A. Points tasted success for the first time on the PGA Tour as he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. The American finished his four rounds, spread across three courses, on 15-under, two shots clear of Hunter Mahan, who shot a 66 on Sunday. Steve Marino, the overnight leader, needed an eagle on the last to force a play-off with Points but sadly took an eight. The win takes Points to World Number 83, also a career high.
