Pilsner Urquell partners with Bernard Gallagher
June 28, 2011

Pilsner Urquell, the Official Beer of The Open Championship, today announced that it has partnered with renowned British golfing legend Bernard Gallacher for the 2011 Championship at Royal St George's in Kent, UK.

It is Bernard's dedication and legendary status within the professional golf world that makes him the perfect partner of Pilsner Urquell at The Open. Bernard was invited to represent the brand due to his wealth of experience and knowledge of major golfing competitions which he has gained through thirteen wins in Europe, eight further abroad and several appearances at the Ryder Cup and World Cup, within his outstanding professional career. A Professional at Wentworth club for the past 20 years, Bernard now passes on his expertise and knowledge to keen golfers.

This is the second time Bernard has partnered with Pilsner Urquell at The Open.  He previously represented the brand at The Open Championship in 2009 where he demonstrated his understanding of how both Pilsner Urquell and The Open share the same values of heritage, authenticity, and originality.

"We are very happy to welcome Bernard back to The Open this year; he is passionate about golf and is the perfect legendary complement to our partnership with The Open," says Petr Dvorak, International Brand Director for Pilsner Urquell . "Pilsner Urquell has a mutual affinity and understanding for those that have put dedication and passion into their professional career, as they share the same values in producing the very best results.  We pride ourselves on a complete commitment to excellence which ensures that a perfectly poured pint of Pilsner reaches each and every single one of its customers."

The Open, golf's oldest and original sporting Championship provides a legendary setting for Pilsner Urquell and Bernard Gallacher to enjoy a long weekend of pure Pilsner and pure golf.

The Open Championship is the world's original golf major and has remained uncompromised ever since it was founded in 1860. Pilsner Urquell is a truly fitting companion as the world's original pilsner - one which remains uncompromisingly true to its heritage. Pilsner Urquell is the exclusive beer of The Open and will be available at all public and VIP bars within Royal St George's.
