Ricardo Santos competes in strongest Portugal Masters field
October 12, 2011

The Portugal Masters celebrates its 5th Anniversary this year, as the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura prepares to welcome the strongest field ever assembled in the tournaments history. The week will also mark a special moment for the newly appointed Oceânico Golf Brand Ambassador and Portugal's Number 1 golfer, Ricardo Santos as he gets a taste of competing alongside the best players in Europe over his home golf course. Currently ranked 3rd on The Challenge Tour courtesy of a maiden victory at the 2011 Princess by Schüco, Santos has already secured his full European Tour card for the 2012 season.

Featuring players from 23 different nationalities and 38 of the current top 60 players in The Race to Dubai rankings, the stunning Oceânico Victoria layout looks set to provide a stern test for the competitors throughout the week and will undoubtedly be one of the highlight events of what has been a memorable 2011 European Tour season.

The current holder of The Race to Dubai and World Number 6, Martin Kaymer is the top-ranked player on show this week and he is just one of many high-profile names that will be looking to get their hands on the Portugal Masters trophy.

Other standout names set to bring in the crowds in great numbers this week include, three-time winner this season, Thomas Björn, Irish Open and KLM Open Champion, Simon Dyson, Saab Wales Open and the Nordea Masters winner, Alexander Noren, three-time Major Champion, Padraig Harrington, 2012 Ryder Cup Captain, José Maria Olazábal and charismatic American, John Daly who continues his extend spell on The European Tour this week.

Three of the four previous winners of the Portugal Masters, including 2008 Champion, Alvaro Quiros and defending champion, Richard Green are also back to try and reclaim their former titles this week in what is sure to be a hotly contested tournament over the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course.
