Free golf weekend in Staffordshire on offer

Would be golfers in the Burton upon Trent area of Staffordshire are being offered the perfect chance to give the sport a try.

Branston Golf and Country Club is staging a free open weekend on Saturday and Sunday, April 9/10.

On offer will be

  • Free driving range balls all weekend
  • Free green fees on the 9-hole course all weekend
  • Free golf lessons for anyone interested in getting into golf.
  • Just ring 01283 528320 to book tee times and/or free golf tuition.

Says Sean Hammill, county development officer for the Staffordshire County Golf Partnership: "Thanks to the efforts of Branston Golf and Country Club, this is an ideal chance for anyone interested in getting into golf to sample what is on offer, with the chance to take things further if they so wish."

Says Richard Odell, Branston Golf and Country Club Director of Golf: "The weekend is open to all ages and our 9-hole course, with its four different tee positions on each hole, offers a great way to get into golf, whether you are a junior just starting out or someone older who wants to try playing.

"Our staff will be on hand to offer advice on the options available for anyone interested in learning new skills, playing more golf or becoming club members."

Branston Golf and Country Club has an 18-hole par 72 championship course situated alongside the River Trent, a 9-hole par 30 academy course featuring four tee positions for each hole and a 22-bay floodlit driving range. Memberships are available from £95 a year when members can obtain an 'official' Congu handicap and compete in monthly club competitions. Further details from 01283 528 320.

The Staffordshire Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.
