Sundridge Park to host top fields in 2012
November 2, 2011

The TP Tour has agreed dates with Sundridge Park to run a two day pro tournament at the 36 hole venue next year. Sundridge Park fulfils the TP Tour's objective of playing on the best courses around the UK and venues that have hosted European Tour events and Open qualifying venues. Ronan Rafferty, the TP Tour's ambassador, played in the 18 hole shoot-out event at Sundridge Park in 2011 which was won by European Challenge Tour member Andrew Marshall. TP Tour has run one day 18 and 36 hole tournaments to date - the 2 day event (which is to be held on 30 and 31 July 2012) is a change from this format. The TP Tour event is the third limb in the series of high profile events at Sundridge Park in 2012.

The 38th Waterford Trophy will be held on 30 and 31 August 2012. This is a 72 hole scratch amateur event with points for both World Amateur Golf Ranking and the EGU order of merit. Past winners include players who have been England squad members and have become English Amateur Champion and represented GB&I in the Walker Cup. Since the event became a 72 hole tournament, entries have included leading amateurs and those aspiring to join the professional ranks. The current holder is Max Orrin of North Foreland (pictured left).

The third event is the younger sister of the Waterford - the Sundridge Park Ladies' Scratch Open, which is played for the McCart Trophy. This is Kent's only ladies' scratch open competition and the fourth running of this growing 36 hole event will be held on June 8 2012. The holder of this trophy is Ashleigh Greenham of West Essex who added the McCart Trophy to the Prince of Wales Amateur Challenge Trophy and the Hampshire Rose in a very successful 2011.
