August 25, 2011

Having hosted some of the world's best Tour professionals, The Carrick on Loch Lomond is prepared to welcome some of Scotland's biggest sporting names for the annual Great Scots Cup, which takes place in association with Wobbly Williams this September. The annual charity fundraiser will see some of Scotland's biggest stars from the world of sport and entertainment come together in order to raise funds for the research into a cure for Parkinson's disease.

A variety of celebrities including former Scotland and British Lions Rugby Captain Gavin Hastings, former Rangers and Scotland Football Manager Walter Smith, Celtic's European Cup winning captain Billy McNeil, Heineken Cup winner and Scotland Rugby Captain Andy Nicol, as well as current Celtic Manager Neil Lennon, are just a few of the notable names who will compete at The Carrick on the 5th of September.

"We're delighted to welcome so many well-known faces from the world of sport and entertainment for this years' Great Scots Cup. It's great that so many of the country's finest representatives are taking time out of their busy schedules to raise money for a fantastic cause," commented Ross Whitfield, Golf and Estates Director, Cameron House Resort. "The Great Scots Cup is a highlight of our calendar and gives us a great opportunity to showcase the fantastic condition of the course to members and guests."

Twenty teams of four will take part on the day, competing over the magnificent championship course at The Carrick, which has previously hosted the Ladies European Tour and PGA Cup matches. Designed by world-renowned architect Doug Carrick, the course has been the subject of rave reviews since opening in 2007.

Following golf over the Carrick course, guests will enjoy a Gala Dinner and enjoy an exclusive auction in the luxury 5* star hotel at Cameron House resort, with proceeds raising funds to help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
