Trigger Point Performance Therapy "Must-Have" Item for 2011
February 10, 2011

Amidst thousands of companies across the one million square foot exhibit hall at last week's PGA Merchandise Show, 11 stood out to Golf Digest as having the coolest, "must-have" items of 2011. One of them - Trigger Point Performance Therapy - made its debut into the golf world at the event.

Since its inception, the Austin-based company has helped countless endurance and team sport athletes live healthier, active lifestyles through a line of therapeutic products. Now, golfers are given reason to embrace the technology as well.

"It's not feasible to get a deep tissue massage after every round of golf," Golf Digest's Ashley Mayo reported. "But this set of massage balls and dumbbell-shaped devices makes it possible to thoroughly rub down even those hard-to-get-to muscles in your shoulders, back, legs and feet. And Trigger Point's foam roller has a grid designed to make you feel as though hands and fingers are giving you a massage."

Cassidy Phillips, CEO and founder of Trigger Point, originally invented the products to manage his own aches and pains. He is an endurance athlete who suffers from fibromyalgia and when he was diagnosed, doctors told him he would never train again. He spent two years researching muscular therapy and began developing the Trigger Point line; since then, he has completed multiple triathlons and ultra-marathons.

Some of the best-known Trigger Point advocates include Athlete's Performance Institute, IMG, professional triathletes and numerous NFL and college football teams. Cassidy is also working with Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich who is making a comeback after surviving cancer.

The company's contributions to the sports medical realm have attracted national attention, everywhere from product features in GQ , Men's Fitness and to a live demonstration on the CBS Emmy-award-winning show, The Doctors .
