Yas Links golf academy officially opens
October 13, 2011

Yas Links Abu Dhabi , a World Top 100 Course and the Middle East's first true links course , officially opens its improved, state-of-the-art golf academy on October 14, 2011.

The acclaimed UAE venue has invested heavily in high-tech teaching tools and sophisticated custom-fitting technology to become one of only twoclubs in the region to use Trackman, the industry standard for accuracy in club and ball flight measurements.

Yas Links's new academy will also boast the UAE's largest number of fully certified Trackman professionals - counting five of the region's 10 PGA Professionals among its team of expert teaching staff.

"Our aim at Yas Links has always been to offer only the very best service to our customers," commented Chris White, General Manager of Aldar Properties (Golf Division), developer of Yas Links. "We are very proud of our team of professionals as they not only hold high-profile golf venue expertise, but also possess remarkable golf operations acumen - all of which has enabled us to put Yas Links and our academy firmly on the golfing map."

Steven Morgan, new Head Golf Professional at Yas Links, added: "We are very excited about officially opening our improved golf academy and upgraded practice facilities. Since the very beginning, Yas Links has been committed to becoming a one-stop shop for any golfer, scratch player or beginner, looking to improve their game and play a world Top 100 Course."

Chris White continued: "We have always recognised the objectives of the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), and share its desire to increase awareness of golf in the UAE and develop a Junior National Programme that will help foster the future players of the game - both at a national and international level.

"Youngsters have always been at the heart of our teaching programmes at Yas Links, which has led us to develop our own personal online coaching log based on established GASP training technology that will help them keep track of ongoing tuition no matter when or where they are," explained Chris White. "The eBook is a fantastic teaching tool that can contain everything from videos, lesson notes and drills to teaching advice and audio files that can be accessed and viewed on any computer, smartphone or iPad - completely in line with today's tech-savvy population."

"With the eBook you can even upload a clip of your golf swing and send it to one of our professionals to analyse and review, enabling us to provide that extra-personal coaching touch," Steven Morgan added.

Yas Links' upgraded teaching and practice facilities will include:

Trackman system that uses the latest Doppler radar technology to monitor three-dimensional clubhead movement and the entire ball flight - from impact to landing - and which can be used as both a teaching tool and a custom-fitting solution

SAM Force Plate that analysesweight transition during the swing

SAM PuttLab, the world's first computer-aided analysis and training system for the short game based on accurate ultrasound measurements

K-Vest technology - a 3D wireless biofeedback system that combines video, 3D animation and key swing data to correct alignment, posture, rotation and timing
