Ladies raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital at Aldwickbury Park
August 21, 2012

Aldwickbury Park Golf Club welcomed 100 kind-hearted lady golfers from across Hertfordshire and neighbouring counties for its Ladies Open, held as a fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Travelling from far and wide to compete on the 18-hole Park Course - designed by former Ryder Cup star and BBC commentator Ken Brown - the ladies raised the princely sum of £960 for one of the world's leading children's hospitals.

The Ellesborough Golf Club partnerships of Judy Hannaford and Annabel Ridler, and Joyce Brown and Marie Ainley, earned first and third place respectively in the Ladies Open. The victorious twosome scored a betterball total of 45 Stableford points, three clear of their home club counterparts who finished third on count back behind Mentmore Golf and Country Club duo, Barbara Brown and Ailish Berry.

Andrew Shewbridge, Aldwickbury Park Golf Club General Manager, said: "Our Open days are always well attended by golfers in the region and it's a pleasure to welcome visitors, especially ones with such goodwill.

"Great Ormond Street Hospital is an outstanding charity and I'd like to thank everybody who attended for their generosity.

"I'd also like to thank the Aldwickbury Park Ladies for organising the event, and congratulate the winners. I look forward seeing them return to defend their crown next year."
