CMAE conference heads to Madrid
January 11, 2012

The Spanish capital of Madrid will welcome club managers, directors and operators from across the continent for the European Conference on Club Management (ECCM) from February 2-4, 2012.

The ECCM, hosted by the  Club Managers Association of Europe  (CMAE) together with their partners Club Managers Spain (CMS), will see some of the industry's most influential figures in attendance and keynote speakers covering a variety of subjects critical in today's club management.

Formerly known as the International Congress, the event will be staged at the Hotel Husa Princesa and is open to all involved in the management of clubs in Europe.

Among the speakers is Jerry Kilby, CMAE Chief Executive, who will present  Developing your Career as a Club Manager  with Arnaldo Cocuzza, Club Manager of Golf Club Milano.

Jerry Kilby said: "The Club Managers Association of Europe is dedicated to progressing the development of club managers.  The European Conference on Club Management gives club operators, no matter what their experience, the opportunity to discover new techniques to improve themselves and their club from a series of workshops, expert speakers and networking with peers."

He continued: "We can guarantee that all delegates will be able to take away from this conference a number of ideas for their clubs to save money, increase revenue (or maybe do both!), making sure that the costs of participation in the conference is a very worthwhile investment for every club".

Also among the guest speakers is Gregg Patterson, the characterful General Manager of The Beach Club in Santa Monica, who recently presented at the Central and Eastern European Club Managers Conference in Budapest.

During his workshop Gregg will be discussing  Managing in a Time of Change  and leading a debate with the Golf Business Coach, Bill Sanderson, entitled  Recurring Problems in Club Management . He will also be involved with the first of the three workshops on the final morning of the conference.

The conference will incorporate the CMAE's AGM and this year's event culminates with three new workshops focussing on the following specific areas:

•  Building effective teams of employees (aimed at managers)

•  Building a communication system taking advantage of social networks (for team managers and marketing)

•  Designing strategies to save on the maintenance of golf facilities without decreasing its quality (for green-keepers)

Jerry Kilby added: "I would encourage anyone interested in either progressing or beginning a career in club management to sign up for the event because it provides a perfect overview of the industry and offers useful information for all levels of club manager."
