De Vere's Daniel Hodson joins Freddie Flintoff in Charity Cycle Slam
June 7, 2012

De Vere Club Ambassador Freddie Flintoff was joined by Daniel Hodson, De Vere's Director of Golf, Leisure and Spa, as Flintoff completed the final leg of his charity cycle from the spiritual home of the Olympic Games in Athens to London's Olympic Park in aid of the Andrew Flintoff Foundation. Both are keen supporters of a number of charitable organisations and will get together once again next month at the ISPS Handa PGA Championship at De Vere Slaley Hall next month in an effort to raise money for De Vere's charity for 2012, the British Heart Foundation.

"These acts of selflessness make us incredibly proud to have Freddie as a De Vere Club Ambassador and I'm delighted that we could be there with him to cross the finish line. Cycling over 3000km from Athens to London is just an incredible feat; hopefully he'll put in as much effort to his golf before he helps launch the PGA Seniors Championship next week," commented Hodson. "He's raised a phenomenal amount of money for a worthwhile cause and I hope we can do something similar at Slaley Hall."

Flintoff completed the journey, known as the Dallaglio Flintoff Cycle Slam with Rugby World Cup Winner and former England Captain Lawrence Dallaglio. Hodson completed the final 70 miles after being invited by Flintoff, who has been a De Vere Club ambassador since 2011. The membership was launched in March 2010 by Honorary Captain Peter Alliss and has attracted a plethora of new members since, intrigued by its flexibility and value for money. The De Vere Club offers golfers the chance to play 16 premium courses at 11 De Vere venues throughout the UK for an initial fee of just £295 and has also received backing from Harry Redknapp and Sophie Horn.
