Elea Golf Club, Cyprus, welcomes new Head Professional
September 4, 2012

Multi-award-winning Eléa Golf Club, Sir Nick Faldo's 'Mediterranean Masterpiece' situated near Paphos in Cyprus, has announced the appointment of Karl Morgan as its new Head Professional.

Karl (29), joins the team at Cyprus' number one ranked golf course* from the prestigious Royal Wimbledon Golf Club in London, where he is currently Assistant Professional.

During his career, Karl has held positions at Quail Lodge Golf Resort, Carmel, California, USA and St Mellion Golf Resort and Carlyon Bay Golf Club, both in Cornwall, UK. He also coaches Richard Edginton, a member of the Europro Tour, and England Girls squad player, Samantha Giles.

Ross Robertson, Director of Golf Operations at Eléa Estate, said: "Karl's role at the prestigious Royal Wimbledon Golf Club has given him valuable insight and experience, and coupled with his time in the USA, this will undoubtedly assist him in enhancing Eléa Golf Club's reputation as a centre of excellence for coaching and tuition.

"Karl also joins Eléa with a fine playing record and has built an excellent reputation for coaching golfers of all levels, from juniors through to top-level players. Karl will be a great asset to our team and we look forward to welcoming him to Cyprus later this month."

Karl joins Eléa Golf Club at a significant period in its evolution as a world-class golf and leisure destination. Since opening in October 2010, the Sir Nick Faldo designed golf course has received rave reviews, including a 'Top 10 new international golf courses of 2010' ranking from American title, Golf Magazine, and being recognised as 'one of the World's most exciting new courses' by UK title, Golf World . It was also crowned the 'No.1 Golf Course in Cyprus' by trusted ratings website, top100golfcourses.co.uk

Karl Morgan commented: "Eléa Golf Club has very quickly established itself as one of the top golf destinations in Europe and it is rapidly helping Cyprus to enhance its reputation as a must-visit place for travelling golfers. I can't wait to get started and help the team build on its already strong reputation for quality and exceptional service."

At 6,900 yards,  Eléa  Golf Club circulates through groves of mature carob and olive trees, while dramatic outcrops of weathered limestone strikingly contrast with the dark green fairways that, on many holes, are fringed by Mediterranean grasses and an abundance of wild herbs and native flora.

The course is supported by the Elea Golf Academy that features a full-length driving range complete with target greens and bunkers, a short game practice area and a stunning putting green, which commands an imposing location overlooking the whole course.
