'Gypsy' Joe aiming to win British Father and Son Golf Championship

'Gypsy' Joe and Rymer Smith, current European Father and Son Golf Champions are looking to add the British title to their names by entering this years  British Father and Son Golf championships taking place this year at the DeVere Belton Woods Golf Resort 3rd - 5th August .

Gypsy Joe said  "As a golf professional, winning last years European Father and Son title with my son was the highlight of my career, without doubt. It's such a great event. Now we want to add the British title and looking forward to playing at Belton Woods.  I would recommend any fathers and sons to enter, they will have the time of their lives".

The event is open to any Father and Son team with no age limit, max Handicap of 24. Grandfathers, Stepfathers and Professionals are all eligible to enter. The championship format is 2 ball better ball stableford played over two days (36 holes) for the coveted title of best Scratch and Handicap champions.

The event organisers RedGolf sell an inclusive package of 2 nights accommodation in the resort 4* Hotel, Breakfast and Dinner. Contestants arrive Friday 3 rd August and compete in the official charity practice day. Saturday is the start of the championship. In the afternoon is a fun Par 3 competition on the excellent Par3 course with a fun twist where the fathers will compete against the Sons in a Matchplay Forsomes.  Sunday concludes the final day where the leading teams will go out last and awarded their trophies on the 18 th green at the official prize giving.

Tournament Director PGA Pro Toby Marsden says "The event will be an amazing and memorable experience. It's a really fun friendly atmosphere. We have dads and lads of all ages and abilities. Many of them bring along there families to make a short break.  We try to give the competitors the experience of playing in a real golf event with 1 st tee announcers, giant scoreboard, pin positions... The prizes are sensational where the winners will win a free holiday to compete in the SkySports European Grand Final in Spain"
