Club legend wins golden prize golf ball competition
November 7, 2012

A former President and Captain of Northcliffe Golf Club in Shipley, Yorkshire, who was converted to using Bridgestone Golf balls at one of the brand's fitting sessions, has scooped the 'Golden Ball' prize in a nationwide promotion organised in conjunction with TGI, Europe's leading golf retail services group.

Frank Brammah, 77, who plays regularly at the club off a 14 handicap and was President of the Bradford Union of Golf Clubs in 2005, won a customised set of Bridgestone Golf clubs, a bag and a supply of his favourite golf balls.

"I was shocked to get a golden ball instead of a white one in the sleeve of balls and thought the Head Pro was pulling my leg when he told me about the prize, which I'm delighted to have won," he said.

Frank switched to using the Bridgestone e6 ball - the softest multi-layer golf ball on the market - when his swing speed was measured by a technician at a Ball Fitting Challenge event and matched to the most suitable ball earlier this year.

He was then one of thousands of golfers across the country entering a promotion where they could buy any sleeve of three Bridgestone balls and pay for just two, plus have the chance of acquiring the Golden Ball at the same time.

PGA Professional Duncan Moore sold the winning sleeve of balls to Frank and couldn't be more delighted. "He's a legend at the club and there is no-one who deserves to win the set of clubs and balls more than Frank," he said.

"I came here to Northcliffe as Head Professional in April last year and made an effort to bring in Bridgestone Golf balls," added Duncan. "We've had three ball fittings here since then, which were well received by the members and a lot of them now play a Bridgestone Golf ball as a result."

The promotion helped to establish Bridgestone Golf balls in many of the leading TGI retail outlets around the UK. "It proved a great success for us and we appreciate the support that TGI members gave the promotion and continue to give our range of quality balls," said Steve Kettlewell, Managing Director of Bridgestone Golf UK.
