Half Moon to host Jamacian Open
October 10, 2012

Half Moon, the 400-acre luxury resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, is to be the lead sponsor and host of the 49th Jamaican Open being held from 28 November to 1 December 2012.

The tournament will be held on Half Moon's award winning Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed par 72 course.  The course, which features rolling greens, challenging drives and breathtaking views, has been dubbed one of the best walking courses in the Caribbean.

The event will include an 18-hole pro-am and 54-hole stroke play tournament where golf professionals from the US, Canada, Europe, Latin and South America and the Caribbean compete for the Jamaica Open trophy and cash prize.

"We are committed to supporting the Jamaica Golf Association in its mission to foster and promote the development of golf in Jamaica," said Aram Zerunian, Half Moon's general manager.

Golfers can take advantage of Half Moon's special Jamaica Open rates starting at US$215 per night single occupancy and US$240 per night double. Rates include breakfast, tax and service charge; however, tournament registration is additional.

The 2011 event was won by American Senior pro Russ Cochran who shot a 10 under-par 206.

This is the fifth consecutive year and the eighth time that the luxury resort is staging the premier event.

To register for the Jamaica Open contact the office of the Jamaica Golf Association at +876 755-3593 or +876 969-6233.
