Mitchell and Maughan return to winning ways in Hoebridge’s Adult/Junior Par-3 Series
October 30, 2012

Dorking duo Ted Mitchell and Jordan Maughan capitalised on double-points awarded in the grand final of Hoebridge Golf Centre's Adult/Junior Par-3 Series to reclaim the title they previously won in 2010.

The family friends were runners-up in last year's competition and were lying third ahead of the series finale, but their combined score of 77 Stableford points secured a thrilling victory on the public pay-and-play facility's 18-hole Maybury Course, a stunning par-3 layout running through woodland and over hills.

The annual Adult/Junior Par-3 Series at Hoebridge - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - includes three qualifying rounds, which take place throughout the year, followed by the grand final for the top 16 partnerships.

The Maughan family fared particularly well in this year's series as Jordan's father and sister, James and Victoria, finished in second place by just one point while Nazeem and Zane Weeder, a father and son pairing from Staines, finished third.

Mike O'Connell, Hoebridge Golf Centre Senior General Manager, said: "The Adult/Junior Par-3 Series is an ideal introduction to competitive golf for both young and old as the par-3 course is friendly and forgiving.

"Ted and Jordan are a force to be reckoned with in this competition, having been in the prizes for three years in a row.

"The perennial competition is always hotly anticipated by Hoebridge golfers and I too am already looking forward to welcoming new and old partnerships to next year's tournament."

Adult/junior pairings will once again have the opportunity to take to the Maybury Course for Hoebridge Golf Centre's special 'Spooky Golf' event on Sunday, October 28. Played in the early evening with glow-in-the-dark balls, each tee, fairway, bunker and green will be marked out with glow sticks and ghostly balloons, to give the course an eerie feel.
