Ricoh hits a hole in one with Jodi Ewart sponsorship
August 30, 2012

Ricoh UK, is announcing today the sponsorship of Britain's brightest female golfing prospect, Jodi Ewart, for an initial contract of three years. Ewart currently has a Rolex World Ranking of 129 and is 47 th on the LPGA money list in her rookie year. Earlier this year she became one of the few professional female golfers to hold tour cards for both the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour at the same time.

Ewart originally hails from Middleham in Yorkshire, England and is now based in Florida, USA.

The 24 year old took up golf at age eight and is an honorary life member of the Catterick club in Yorkshire - where she enjoyed a glittering amateur career. Jodi went on to attend the University of New Mexico where she won five inter-collegiate tournaments and was named onto the all American team on three occasions.

She won final-stage qualifying for the 2012 Ladies European Tour with an 11-under total of 350 for the five-round tournament at La Manga. Earlier this year, Jodi was seeded 62 at the Sybase Match Play Championship at Hamilton Farm Golf Club, New Jersey, where Ewart beat the defending champ and No. 3 seed, Suzann Pettersen.

In September, Ricoh will proudly be sponsoring for a sixth consecutive year, the Ricoh Women's British Open, taking place in 2012 at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, Hoylake, Wirral. Ricoh has a strong heritage in sport sponsorship and the latest signing of Ewart demonstrates its commitment to some of its core values across team work and strength as a trusted player inside and outside of the IT services industry.

Chas Moloney, Marketing Director at Ricoh UK said: "Ricoh has recently seen a rebrand across its global business and we know that Jodi will be a fantastic brand ambassador for Ricoh UK. We pride ourselves in supporting promising UK talent as well as large events that are seen by millions. We look forward to seeing Jodi playing at the Women's British Open in September and we hope that she performs well in a historic sporting year for the UK in 2012."

Speaking about the Ricoh sponsorship, Jodi Ewart added: "I am thrilled to have the support from Ricoh, a globally recognised brand, at this stage in my career. I have had a successful start to 2012 and the next year will be important for me to focus on my sport and it's a great feeling knowing that I am sponsored for the next three years, vital for any young athlete.."
