Kusadasi, Turkey, opens to golfers
December 13, 2012

The south-west Aegean holiday hotspot of Kusadasi, Turkey, is poised to become the country's next big golfing destination following the recent opening of the area's first 18-hole course and new, multi-facility golf and spa resort.

Top Turkish players took part in an inaugural competition at the Kusadasi International Golf Course, which adjoins Kusadasi Golf & Spa, a CLC World resort - a company that is a leading resort property developer and operator of holiday products around the world.

Three participating members of Turkey's national team, Hamza Sayin, G ü ray Yazici and Sena Ersoy, joined the 72-strong field of male and female players. It was a significant event for both golf and Turkey, where golf tourism has been concentrated in the Belek region.

Course manager Fredrik Hansson, from Sweden, has helped open several courses in Turkey since 1996 and said. "Kusadasi is an exciting alternative for golf thirsty travellers and offers many unique benefits to visitors, including the ruins at Ephesus, one of the ancient wonders of the world.

"Kusadasi International Golf is a modern course, built across a hillside with golf buggies in mind. It has undulating fairways with fantastic views to the sea on one side and the mountains on the other and can be considered one of the most beautiful in the country. On this challenging course you have to play with your head and not just with power."

The first nine holes opened in May 2012 and the official full course and resort opening took place on Turkish Republic Day, October 29 th , with a celebratory party attended by local dignitaries, business people and young future hopefuls of Turkish golf, Ahmet and Onur Telli.

From the course, Kusadasi Golf & Spa resort with its plethora of facilities that includes 11 swimming pools, spa with Turkish bath, sports, restaurants, bars, shops and supermarket, rises from the hilltop as an attractive small town or village. Guests enjoy golfing discounts and buggies connect with the adjacent golf facility and clubhouse.

Mr Hansson said that with five golf projects pending for Kusadasi, it now has the potential to be the next big golf destination in Turkey. He said: "Kusadasi International Golf Course is a fantastic venue for anyone who appreciates diversity of play in a wonderful climate and where every day is different. Our Golf Academy is the perfect place to either begin your golfing career or to improve and sharpen your game while on an unforgettable vacation in a beautiful environment in the Aegean sunshine."
