Lexden Wood Golf Club join Playgolf World
March 8, 2012

Lexden Wood Golf Club, Bakers Lane, Colchester is extremely excited about becoming part of the Playgolf World and will be now known as Playgolf Colchester.

They will join Leatherhead in Surrey, Playgolf Bournemouth and Playgolf London in Harrow as part of Playgolf World.

Playgolf Colchester is two miles from Colchester town centre and has easy access to the A12.

Playgolf Colchester is more then just a golf course. The revamp at the end of 2007 turned the club's course into a 6,000-yard, par 70 course. The undulating parkland course features many hazards including a lake and river which come into play on five holes. The course is well guarded by 64 bunkers that have been strategically placed to catch every level of golfer and have been designed to accommodate the distances of modern golf technology.

Thanks to the USGA standard greens, the course is playable all year round without the need for temporary greens.

They pride ourselves in their other great facilities at the club, which also include a 24 bay flood-lit driving range, which means it can be used all year round come rain or shine. 9 hole, par 3 academy course, putting green and short game practice hole.

They are proud that their Teaching Academy is one of the busiest in Essex with professionals using both the GASP computer analysis system and the explanar swing training aid. Playgolf Colchester will continue to encourage young and old alike, from beginner through to experienced golfer.

They have memberships to suit all needs at very competitive prices for the regular everyday golfer to the busy golfer who only gets the opportunity to play once or twice a month.

With weekly member's competitions and a very busy social calendar they are dedicated to providing something for every golfer!

A warm professional welcome awaits you from their friendly team at the club house offering you everything you need from a cup of coffee and slice of cake to a three course meal. All their food is locally sourced (where possible) and is freshly cooked everyday.

When booking a Golf Society they have everything you need and a member of their team will be dedicated to ensure that your day is organised for you and that you are looked after from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. They are able to provide ultimate flexibility, so whether you require a selection of locally sourced, mouth watering sit down dishes, a buffet or a barbeque, their head chef can ensure that everything goes exactly to plan.

maintain the existing ethos of being an open and welcoming club for all ages and will strive to get away from the commonly held perception that golf clubs are for the wealthy and older player.

Leighton Oakey, Centre Manager said "We are delighted to join a family run business that will maintain our existing ethos of being an open and welcoming club for all ages and that we will provide everything a golfer will need in a fun and professional environment whatever your age or golfing ability.

They have a strong Junior section with over 100 members many of which playing in competitions. This made them realise that they needed to be recognised as a club that looked after its Juniors and took them seriously.

They took on the task to achieve Golf Mark which they were proud to achieve in Autumn 2010. They are the only club in Colchester with the Golf Mark accreditation which means they are nationally recognised as a club that provides outstanding teaching for juniors in a fun enjoyable and welcoming environment. Plus more importantly that there are strict procedures in place as each child's safety is paramount when they are left in the club's care.

To contact a member of the team here at Playgolf Colchester simply telephone 01206 843333, we look forward to your call.
