Lumine to host 2013 IGTM
November 23, 2012

The Costa Daurada region today affirmed its growing status as one of golf's most intriguing propositions following the announcement that its premier resort, Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community Golf Club, will host the 2013 International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). The 16th edition of the prestigious event is set to take place from November 11-14 and will see the region showcase its seven golf courses, leisure and cultural offering to golf tourism suppliers, buyers and media from around the globe.

Calle Carlsson, General Manager of Lumine Golf Club, part of the Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community, sees this as a historic moment for the region: "Being selected to host the 2013 IGTM is a remarkable achievement and testament to the vision of our owners, Mediterránea and the hard work and dedication of all involved. The event will provide us with a unique opportunity to showcase our magnificent region to the industry, demonstrate our unrivalled variety of golf, leisure and cultural attractions whilst cementing strategic business relationships."

"It is also important that I recognise our partner's pivotal role in supporting next year's IGTM; Turespana, Catalan Tourism Board, Costa Daurada Tourism Board, Port Aventura and the Costa Daurada Golf Association. We all look forward to welcoming our guests with open arms and promise a truly memorable week with renowned Spanish hospitality and cuisine."

Since opening in 2008, Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community has made an instant impression on major golfing organisations for the quality and conditioning of its 45-holes of championship golf and abundance of first-class leisure facilities. The impressive Troon managed resort recently shone in the spotlight as a host venue for the Second Stage of European Tour Qualifying School and has forged a strong alliance with the PGAs of Europe, hosting their annual Fourball Championship and Coaches Circle and Heads of Training Summit.

Peter Grimster, Exhibition Manager, IGTM, commented "We have been hearing great things about Costa Daurada and Lumine for some time now, so naturally we are delighted that the travel industry will experience what I believe is one of Europe's finest golf facilities, the facilities and variety of golf on offer at Lumine Golf Club are simply first-class and I have no doubt that Calle and his accomplished team will put on a magnificent show for all involved."

Visitors to IGTM next year will be spoilt for choice when it comes to the variety of golf on offer at Lumine and on the Costa Daurada. Winding its way around the picturesque Sèquia Major wetlands, the Greg Norman designed, Lakes course bears all the hallmarks of the Great White Shark and is undoubtedly the most testing of the resorts three courses. A links-style championship layout, it features several water hazards and tests all aspects of the game. Located within 170 acres, Lumine Golf Club also includes the more traditional Hills Course, a second 18-hole championship course that runs through pine and olive trees with spectacular views of the nearby coastline. The aptly named 9-hole Ruins Course, another Norman design, weaves its way through Roman archaeological remains from the second century and completes a diverse 45-hole offering of immaculately presented golf that caters for golfers of all ages and abilities.

In addition to the comprehensive golf offering and world-class practice facilities, Lumine Golf Club boasts two fully-equipped clubhouses, impeccable service and hospitality, numerous accommodation offerings to suit all tastes and budgets, several stunning restaurants serving superb Mediterranean cuisine and the acclaimed Lumine Beach Club. In close proximity to two international airports at Barcelona and Reus, guests are also spoilt for choice when it comes to après golf options from the moment they step off the plane. From one of Europe's biggest theme parks and thriving nightlife to Michelin star restaurants, wine tasting in the nearby Priorat region and the historic towns of Tarragona and Cambrils, the Costa Daurada and Lumine have all bases covered.
