Fuel for golf
May 30, 2012

'Jimmy's Chocolate Orange' and 'Café Cortado' aren't flavours you would normally associate with sports nutrition, but then again MuleBar have never tended to follow the rules, as their new product launches this summer prove...

You only have to read through the list of elite athletes and sportsmen and women who use MuleBar products to know that they clearly pack a punch when it comes to fuelling and refuelling for sport and adventure. Alongside the England Rugby team and Tour De France riders, who regularly use the bars, many elite athletes swear by them, ranging from World Champion Triathlete Javier Gomez Noya to kayaker Aisling Conlan.

MuleBar have spent a lot of time over the winter listening to those athletes who use their products, sports nutritionists and their own taste buds to help tweak and improve their existing products, which include energy bars and gels and ReFuel protein and carbohydrate bars.

They've also introduced two brand new products. Their Café Cortado energy gel is based on the flavour of their favourite coffee and packs an equally powerful caffeine hit, combined with exactly the right amount of carbohydrate to keep your body energised without giving your digestive system too much work. It also provides sodium to help your body, in combination with water, stay hydrated.

The second product is Jimmy's Chocolate Orange energy bar. Jimmy, the director of MuleBar, is a keen and accomplished endurance bike racer and he loves his chocolate, but knows it's not the best thing in the world for fuelling the body. So he set his team the task of creating a bar that would give his taste buds a treat whilst providing him with the right kind of fuel for his body - the result was so good, Jimmy put his name to it.

As with all MuleBar products, the gel and bar use only natural ingredients as the company are strong believers in the idea that the more additives you put into a human body, the more the body has to work to process them, which means upset stomachs and reduced performance.

Furthermore MuleBar products aren't just good for you, they're good for the environment too. Whether it's using compostable packaging in their MuleBar energy bars, using Fairtrade ingredients in their ReFuel bars or being part of the '1% For The Planet' scheme (helping contribute to a network of environmental organizations around the globe), you'll always find MuleBar giving something back to the planet they so love exploring.
