Oceânico Golf shines at IGTM
November 23, 2012

Oceânico Golf welcomed a record-breaking number of new and existing tour operators from around the world during a successful exhibition at the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM).

Owners and operators of seven magnificent properties, Oceânico Golf has built a reputation for quality and accessible golf in the Algarve region. Host to the Portugal Masters since 2007, the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course featured within the IGTM programme via a tournament which allows delegates to experience the region's outstanding golf offering.

Chris Stilwell, CEO for Oceânico Golf said; "We had a very successful IGTM, building upon our existing relationships with Tour Operator partners and establishing new ones. As host to the IGTM golf tournament we were able to showcase part of our extensive Oceânico portfolio."

The world's premier golf travel event took place at the congress centres of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura bringing together buyers and exhibitors for four days of pre-scheduled appointments, networking and industry updates. Demonstrating the increasing significance of IGTM to the golf tourism industry, this year's event saw record breaking attendance and business.

Also Vice President of the Algarve Tourism Association, Mr Stilwell added "The Algarve is one of the top European golf destinations and one of the best in the world, and many of our 38 courses are recognised and awarded for their excellence. Approximately half of all Portugal's golf courses are in the Algarve, with 15% of tourism revenue in the region derived from golf, so it is an important sector of our economy."

Peter Grimster, IGTM Exhibition Manager, said: "Our visit to the Algarve has been a resounding success and we thank our hosts. Portugal Tourism Board and Algarve Tourist Association for welcoming us the region. We are delighted with the results of this year's IGTM which saw the strongest ratio of exhibitors to buyers in the history of the event and the feedback from both exhibitors and golf tour operators has been extremely positive."
