Second WGC title takes Ian Poulter to World No. 15
November 5, 2012

Ian Poulter picked up his second World Golf Championship title at the HSBC Champions in China after a stunning Sunday 65 earned him a two shot victory over a chasing quartet of Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Jason Dufner and Scott Piercy. Poulter carded eight birdies in the final round, countered by just a solitary bogey at 17, en route to overturning a four stroke deficit heading into the closing 18 as overnight leaders Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen struggled to level par 72s to finish off the pace. The win was Poulter’s 12th European Tour title, and his second WGC victory after his win in the Accenture World Match Play in 2010, and sees him climb 11 places in the Official World Golf Ranking and back up into the top 20 at 15th on the list.

Doug McGuigan picked up the biggest win of his career after a one up finals victory over Jaco Ahlers at the ISPS Handa South African Match Play Championship. The win shoots McGuigan up the Sunshine Tour rankings and into the top ten, while also seeing him climb from equal 410th up into 248th on the world list.

Peruvian Sebastián Salem won the Lexus Peru Open with a final round of 66 which sees him jump to World Number 767.
