Award for Prince's Golf Club
October 10, 2012

Prince's Golf Club, situated on the stunning Kent coast near the historic towns of Deal and Sandwich, has once again been recognised in the highest echelons, having recently been awarded the prestigious Chairman's Award at the 10th Anniversary Visit Kent Awards. An evening of celebrations at Brogdale Farm in Faversham on the 25th September bought together local businesses and suppliers and culminated in Visit Kent Chairman, Mrs Amanda Cottrell OBE presenting General Manager, John George and Sales & Marketing Manager, David Holder with a trophy in recognition of Prince's outstanding contribution to driving tourism and boosting employment in the region.

Over the past three years, the Troon managed golfing facility has worked closely with Visit Kent and a number of other iconic clubs in the county, attending numerous trade and public golf shows and hosting influential members of the press in dedicated and focused strategy that has seen golf tourism levels rise significantly. With continued renovations and investment into the 27-holes still on going and the addition of the stunning new Lodge at Prince's and Brasserie, the resort has also played its part in boosting employment in the county. As well as a number of suppliers having to employ new staff to meet the demands from Prince's, the club also boasts in excess of 70 members of staff, all of which are from the local area.

"This award is extremely gratifying and testament to the long term vision and passion of our owners and the hard work and dedication of the entire team here at Prince's," commented John George, Prince's Golf Club & The Lodge at Prince's, General Manager. "It has been an amazing few years witnessing the transformation of the courses and the construction of our spectacular new accommodation offering, so naturally it's fantastic to be recognised for our achievements. We look forward to welcoming both visiting golfers to The Lodge at Prince's and servicing them with warm hospitality, a first-class dining experience and the ability to unwind and relax after golf in our sumptuous bedrooms and apartments."

Commenting on behalf of Visit Kent, its Chairman, Amanda Cottrell OBE said;" In addition to investing over £5 million in the stunning new Lodge accommodation and providing a superb new facility to the golf market in Kent, Prince's Golf Club have proved themselves to be great ambassadors of tourism in Kent by their flexible attitude. The support that John George and David Holder have provided in developing press and trade links for the golf product has been invaluable to Visit Kent and to the golf industry as a whole."

Following the official opening of the on-site Lodge at Prince's, the facility has now set a benchmark for golf accommodation in the region and beyond and underline's the relentless dedication to transforming itself into one of the golf's most complete links golf destinations. The new accommodation provides the perfect complement to Princes' 27-hole championship layout, which continues to receive rave reviews having undergone extensive renovations and improvements, under the stewardship of internationally-renowned management and agronomy specialists, Troon and European Golf Design, the Golf Course Design Company of The European Tour and IMG.

Featuring 38 bedrooms with en-suite facilities, Lounge, Bar, terrace and snooker room, The Lodge at Prince's is also blessed with a modern, contemporary dining experience in The Brasserie on the Bay, where emphasis is placed on serving traditional Kentish produce with attention to service and quality. Guests are also provided with fantastic views of Prince's Golf Club, Royal St Georges Golf Club and over Pegwell Bay to the White Cliffs at Ramsgate.

Along with its neighbours Royal St Georges and Royal Cinque Ports, Prince's shares the famous strip of links land between the towns of Sandwich and Deal, making it a haven for golfing enthusiasts in Southern England and further afield. Host of the 1932 Open Championship won by Gene Sarazen, Prince's Golf Club is one of only fourteen courses to have hosted the most famous event in golf. Further highlighting its championship pedigree, the course has also welcomed The European Tour, The Curtis Cup, the Ladies British Open and The Amateur Championship which it will again be co-hosting in 2013.
