RAC launch charity cup at Woodcote Park
March 13, 2012

The Royal Automobile Club is pleased to announce that it will host its first ever Charity Cup golf competition at Woodcote Park on Tuesday 24 April.

The Charity Cup is expected to feature some of the leading names from across the automotive and broadcasting industries including sports presenter Steve Rider.

The event will comprise up to 20 teams of four players, and will adopt a Stableford scoring system in which the best two scores from each team will count on every hole. The Royal Automobile Club Trophy will be awarded to the winning team, with a handful of other prizes available for various feats achieved on the day.

Sky Sports, who are launching a channel dedicated to Formula 1 on 9 March, are supporting the event.

The Club has also collaborated with two very worthy charities for the Charity Cup. BEN, the UK’s only charity for those who work, or have worked, in the automotive and related industries, as well as their dependents, and the Henry Surtees Foundation, which assists people with brain and physical injuries, provides education, and helps young people by developing their skills so they can participate in society.

David Wilkinson, Chief Executive and Secretary of the Royal Automobile Club: "We are thrilled to be able to announce our forthcoming Charity Cup that will take place in the grounds of our 'house in the country’, Woodcote Park. We are proud that the event is able to support two extremely worthwhile charities, and we are thankful to Sky Sports for offering their support and help on the event. We envisage that our entry list will fill up very quickly, so would encourage any interested competitors to sign up as soon as possible - we expect it to be a very successful fixture."
