Extensive refurbishment at Reynolds Plantation
October 25, 2012

Infusing a fresh, comfortable Southern elegance into its interiors, The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation - the acclaimed AAA Five Diamond property situated on Lake Oconee, Georgia's second largest lake - is poised to begin an extensive refurbishment of 251 guestrooms and suites.

The Ritz-Carlton Lodge is a luxury resort located in Reynolds Plantation, a golf destination with five golf courses and four marinas - as well as a vast 19,000-acre lake for fishing, boating, paddle boarding and more.

According to Ralph Vick, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, the ambitious renovation, which will be completed by Dallas-based Duncan Miller Ullman Design, ranges from the renewal of the 2,392 square-foot Ritz-Carlton suite to all 460-square-foot standard guest rooms. The refurbishment is to be completed by March 31, 2013.

The new décor has been meticulously designed to capture the area's colorful Southern history and compelling beauty, while infusing a clean, hand-crafted residential feel.

"Our design scheme evokes the spirit of an 'endless summer,' with a nod to the region's Southern roots and abundant natural beauty," said lead interior designer Kimberly Miller. "Each guestroom has a fresh modern feel, yet exudes a sense of place, capturing the Reynolds Plantation experience via local Creek Indian art, rustic accents and plush, comfortable furnishings."

Taking a cue from the area's rich heritage, elements of classic Southern design predominate - from antique style furnishings to pecan woods to custom hand-embroidered fabrics.  The muted, neutral color palette provides a serene backdrop for nature-inspired and geometric patterns, a collection of distressed and polished wood finishes and natural textiles - all punctuated by fine touches such as classic American pencil post beds, custom regional artwork, leather ottomans, hammered metal accents and whimsical needlepoint pillows.

"The end result is an atmosphere of understated, timeless elegance reflecting the tranquil beauty of Lake Oconee and the vibrant local culture of the area," Miller said.
