February 6, 2012

The new golf course at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort is now open to the public. The 18 holes championship course which occupies a total area of 65 hectares was designed by Severiano Ballesteros, legendary player and a world reference in the design of golf courses.

The opening will take place simultaneously with the start-up of "The Legend" restaurant, located in the clubhouse of the Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, with a capacity of 100 people, 40 inside and 60 outside with unique views over the course to the Atlantic and the Berlenga Islands. This is the ideal place to relax after a game of golf with a glass of wine, a light snack or something more substantial from the comprehensive menu.
The golf course at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort is primarily targeted at the domestic and North European markets, more specifically from Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the UK and Ireland and Benelux. Spain and France are also preferred markets.

The golf course at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort offers annuity packages to individuals and companies. For individual customers, the packages include the family (1 holder, spouse and member’s children under 18 years of age) and are split into four categories: Royal Óbidos owner’s resident abroad, Royal Óbidos owner’s resident in Portugal, Residents abroad and Residents in Portugal. The Company Annuity includes options for three to five members.

Eduardo Johnston da Silva, director of golf at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort, says:
"The Royal Óbidos project is characterized by the concept of overall quality, which provides a totally customer-focused golf experience, from check-in until the 19h hole.

The main features of this Severiano Ballesteros masterpiece are the views - 6 holes overlooking the Óbidos Lagoon and 12 holes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; the playability of the course providing a challenge to players of all levels; the cold climate grass used which ensures a homogenous golf course 365 days a years; the ample long and short game training areas adjacent to the clubhouse.

Our clubhouse offers a unique location leisure area with panoramic views of the golf course and the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, where the player can enjoy various dining options, or simply relax after their game".
