PGA Students bring pro touch to Superior Golf and Spa Resort
July 16, 2012

Rachael Maitland and David Taylor, students from the University of Birmingham's Applied Golf Management Studies (AGMS) Degree joined Superior Golf and Spa Resort at the Start of June to assist in the Golf Operations department for the summer season.

The 2nd Second year students arrived at the 5* Superior Golf and Spa Resort to work alongside the countries only PGA Professional Nick Solski, until the end of August.

The Applied Golf Management Studies course is a unique partnership between the PGA and University of Birmingham (UoB) - the only golf degree to offer the opportunity to apply for PGA membership once completed.

Rachael Maitland commented: "I am delighted and privileged to of been given the opportunity to work here at Superior Golf and Spa Resort. The facility here is extremely impressive and my first month here has been an incredible experience. The Holland Football Team were based at the resort for Euro2012, and being involved in such unique events as "Golf in Heels" and "Night Golf" has definitely opened my eyes and changed my view on how to attract new members and people to the sport. I am also enjoying the challenge of learning about a whole new culture and helping promote ladies golf while I'm out here with the introduction of 'Miss superior golf. "

David Taylor said "Golf in Ukraine is relatively unknown in England, however I have been amazed by the quality of the facilities here at Superior Golf and Spa Resort. It has been great to experience golfers having fun and enjoying their first taste of golf with new and innovative events such as "Golf in heels - Neon Night" and "Powerplay Golf". Hopefully over the next few months we can further combine our experiences of how golf is taught, played and developed in England with these new ideas to create the ultimate golfing experience for guests and members at Superior Golf and Spa Resort

"The students have been a credit to the University. They have fully immersed themselves in the culture, lifestyle and embraced the club's strategic plan for growing golf. Rachael was a little surprised with music on the driving range on her first day, but now she is in charge of the playlist - mostly giving golfers a faster beat on which to base their swing tempo!" added Nick Solski, Superior Golf and Spa's Director of Golf.
