Mediterranean magic from team Brooks at TGI Golf Challenge
April 5, 2012

Malton and Norton Head Professional Michael Brooks and his amateur partners breezed to a six-point victory on the Turkish Mediterranean coast to be crowned TGI Golf Team Challenge winners.

Brooks and his team of Martin Rushworth, Bob Seager and Mark Jones, saw off the competition from 37 other TGI Golf Partners and their teams in the 54-hole stableford competition at the Lykia Links Resort.

The event, played over the challenging Lykia layout, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, lush green forest and the Toros mountains, saw 152 golfers vying for top spot and a selection of fantastic prizes courtesy of sponsors TaylorMade-adidas Golf.

"The whole event was, as always, extremely well organised by Eddie, Adele and the TGI Golf team," said Brooks. "These kind of events give us TGI Partners the opportunity to come together, compete and network, and also offer our members a fantastic trip with amazing prizes on offer. The guys could not believe the prizes they won - that is a great testament to the relationship the group has built up with Partner Suppliers like TaylorMade-adidas Golf."

Brooks - who has competed in every event since it started three years ago - and his team amassed 208 points, seeing off the challenge from Stuart Syme's (Dumfries & County) team, who finished second.

Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Partnership Managing Director, added: "The TGI Golf Team Challenge is just one of many high quality, professionally run competitions we, along with our Partner Suppliers, organise for our Partners throughout the year at prestigious golf courses across the globe.

"Congratulations to Michael and his team - he supports many of the events that we stage so it was nice to see him win, and win in style."

TaylorMade-adidas Golf supplied a number of amazing prizes - including drivers, irons, adidas shoes, while every team received shirts for each day of the trip.

Lee Farrar, Regional Sales Manager TaylorMade-adidas Golf, said: "TGI Golf is a key partner of ours and its business is very important to us, so it is great that we can give something back, not only to the pros that buy our products, but also the end consumers, because if it wasn't for their support year after year, we wouldn't be where we are as a company today.

"The Team Challenge was truly a great event orchestrated by TGI Golf's staff who did a fantastic job."
