The Bedford Golf Club plays host to Jamega Pro Golf Tour
February 24, 2012

The Bedford Golf Club will play host to a number of European Tour Players, including a former Ryder Cup Player, on Monday 27 February when the Jamega Pro Golf Tour, in association with Titleist FootJoy, revisits the course for its opening event of 2012.

Monday 27 February sees the first of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour Winter Series, consisting of 5, one day, 18 hole tournaments being played at 5 different venues around the UK. There is a full entry list for the event, including Paul Broadhurst, a stalwart of the European Tour and former European Ryder Cup Team Member, along with Andrew Johnston and Andrew Marshall who will both make their debut on The 2012 European Tour.

Since the Jamega Pro Golf Tour was established in 2004 it has grown and developed on the philosophy of producing the right grounding and experience to benefit the future European Tour Player. It has been a successful professional development ground for players such as Andrew Johnston, as well as providing ongoing competitive tournaments for seasoned European Tour players such as Paul Broadhurst and Roger Chapman.

The tour is revisiting The Bedford for a second time after a momentous tournament in November 2011 where Simon Lilly scored an incredible 59, a score which entered him into the record books, becoming the first player to shoot a round under 60 in a professional event in the UK.

Gary Harris, Co-Founder and Director of the Jamega Pro Golf Tour, is delighted to be back at The Bedford and would be pleased for the Club to continue hosting future tour events on the course.

The Bedford boasts a spectacular golf course, which can be played all year round, with Augusta style USPGA greens and tees, lakes and an array of bunkers to negotiate. The Bedford is also the home club for Ladies European Tour Player, Holly Aitchison.

Geoff Swain, Director of Golf from The Bedford Golf Club, commented " The Bedford has proven itself as a successful venue for Championship Golf events and with the extended Clubhouse is also hosting many conference events and other functions. It is great to welcome back the Jamega Tour and see so many up and coming professional golfers competing alongside the seasoned tour players."

There are 4 further one day Winter Series tournaments over the next 3 weeks, with the second event being held at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire on Thursday 1 March. Following the Winter Series is the Jamega Spanish Series starting on 21 March until the 30 March 2012 with 3, two day tournaments.
