Big expansion planned for Windlesham Golf Club
March 28, 2012

Surrey-based Windlesham Golf Club has announced that is has been granted planning permission to expand its club house and maintenance complex. Under the plans, the Clubhouse will benefit from extensions and enhancements to the pro shop, restaurant and function areas, along with a new porch, to improve the exterior aspect of the building.

The planning permission follows closely on the Club's announcement that it has made significant investment in new green keeping equipment, fairway irrigation and a fleet of modern golf buggies.

The development is part of a rolling 10-year plan to expand and continually enhance Windlesham golf course and buildings. This follows the acquisition of the Club's minority share holdings four years ago and furthers its mission to become one of the leading golf clubs in the area.

Commenting on the recent permissions, Peter Lumley, managing director of Windlesham Golf Club said, "We are well aware that our ongoing investment in the Club's buildings and grounds bucks the trend of UK clubs that seem to be battening down the hatches. However, during austere times, we believe that it's even more important to improve our offering to our members, so that they can relax and enjoy their golf and leisure."

Lumley continued, "The granting of this permission will help protect a valuable green belt area by providing outstanding facilities within the 155 acres of lovely golf course and reflects the management team's commitment to delivering a top class golfing venue that will enhance the experience for our local golfers and attracts visitors to the area."

Windlesham Golf Club already boasts a championship 18-hole course, designed by PGA tour veteran, Tommy Horton.
