Windlesham Golf Club launches girls' scholarships
March 28, 2012

Surrey-based Windlesham Golf Club today announced that it has presented scholarships to three girls as part of a long-term commitment to grow a vibrant girls section at the Club.

The first three scholarships were presented to Georgia Christie (aged 13), Vicki Patel (aged 15) and Sarah Wilmore (aged 12) by PGA head professional, Lee Mucklow. He outlined the Club's initiative to generate enough funding to offer eight scholarships over a rolling two-year period.

Julia Brook from the Surrey County Ladies Golf Association ( SCLGA ) also attended the ceremony to endorse the initiative and provide further information on junior girls golf development taking place both at county and national levels.

The scholarships are a response to county and national efforts to encourage more girls into golf in large enough numbers that it will have a sustained impact on girls' and eventually ladies golf.

The par 72, 6,650-yard course was designed by PGA Tour veteran Tommy Horton and is situated just off the junction with the A30 and A322 in Windlesham, Surrey. For further information see www.windleshamgolf.com or call +44 (0) 1276 452220.
