Big names sign up for RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship at PGA Catalunya Resort, Spain
August 30, 2012

Long Drive sensations Joe Miller, Dan Konyk, Jorgen Trank, Andreas Persson and Gerard Pera have signed up for this year's only European RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship (WLDC) organised by  PGA Catalunya Resort  near Barcelona, Spain.

British talent Joe Miller will be among those showcasing their strength, speed and power at Spain's No.1 golf course on September 8, 2012.

Joe was the first European to ever win the RE/MAX WLDC in 2010, with a 414-yard (378.56m) strike, a record-breaking achievement that saw him hit the ball 43 yards further than his nearest competitor, winning Joe a cool $150,000.

Spaniards Gerard Pera and European Tour player born in Barcelona, Pablo Larrazabal, will be among the field vying for a place in the coveted Las Vegas final, where the total prize fund is a cool $500,000.

"We are really excited to see local sensations Gerard Pera and Pablo Larrazabal competing in the RE/MAX WLDC-PGA Catalunya Resort event and wish them all the best," commented Miguel Girbes, Golf Director.

"It is great to see so many big names among the line-up for Europe's only RE/MAX WLDC and look forward to what we believe will be a fast-paced, action-packed event."

Long drive professionals from Sweden, Jorgen Trank and Andreas Persson, who finished first and second at the recent Aldila Powergolf Matchplay Championship in Uddala will also be taking part, hoping to build on their current form.

Dan 'The Ukrainian' Konyk will also be joining British compatriot Joe Miller in September, aiming to better his previous RE/MAX WLDC of England win in 2008.

PGA Catalunya Resort is anticipating a sizable turnout of amateur competitors as well, with current registered participants coming from Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, the USA, the Netherlands, France and the UK.

Entry fees will be €50 for amateurs, €60 for Spanish professionals and €80 for international professional - registrations can be done directly through PGA Catalunya Resort's website at:
